1. Yikkaraikku akkarai pachai,

Yikkaraikku akkarai pachai,

Illatha  porul meetu,

Yellorkkum asai varum .

1, To this shore the other shore is green,

To this shore other shore is green ,

On the thing that is not there ,

All people would have desire.

2. Yen veet kannadi ,

Yen mukathai kattavillai,

Samsariyin  asai sanyasam  ,

Antha sanyasiyin Asai samsaram.

2.The mirror of my house,

Does not show  my face  ,

The householder desires to be a detached sage,

And the detached   sage desires to be householder. 

3.Kanalukku maan alayum,

Kan kanda Kakshi  ,

Kan munne kanumgal,

Oru kodi  sakshi

3.For the shade   the deer would wander,

See the sight seen by   the eye, just before the eyes,

There are one crores of witnesses.

4.Kadal meethu vizhundhorkal, Neendungal,

Kani meethu vizhundhorgal   unnungal,

Vazhi chalai kandorgal  chollungal-poga

4,let those who fell on the sea    swim,

Let those who fell on the fruit eat ,

Those who saw the path   tell them to go by that

5.Vazhiyindri  nirpavarkal  nillungal  ,

Kal tharayil   kai pottu neendhu kindra  manitha,

Kalamitta  kattalayai  matthuvathu yelitha

5.Let those who stand without a way stand there,

Oh Man who  swims with his hand on a stony surface ,

It is not easy to  alter   the orders   given by time.

6.Mazhi naalil   un kangal veyil thedum,

Kodai veyyil naalil  ,un meni kulir thedum,

Athu thedi, ithu thedi , alaigindrai vaazhvil ,

Yethu  vanthu chernthalum   thavikkindrai,

Avaravarkku   vaitha idam   avan potta pichai ,

Ariyatha manidarkku  , akkarayil ichai

6.On the days of rain, your eyes would search for the sun,

On the red hot summer day  , your body would search for cold,

In this wandering life , searching this and searching that,

The place kept for each one is the alms given by God,

To those ignorant humans,  the desire is for other shore.
