1. Kudippatharkku oru manam irundhaal-avalai,

Maranthu vidalam-avalai ,

Marappatharkku  oru manam irundhaal  ,

Kudithu vidalam-aanaal  ,

Iruppatho oru manathu –Naan,

Yenna Cheven-Yenna cheyven.

1.If I have a mind to drink –

I  can afford to forget her,

If I have a mind which can forget her,

I can drink-But I have only one mind ,

What shal I do, What shall I do.

2.Irandu manam Vendum,

Iraivanidam ketten,

Ninaithu vaada ondru,

Maranthu Vaaza ondru

2,I asked God,

I want two minds,

One   to think and fade ,

And another   to forget and live.

3.Chiriya kayam, periya thunbam ,

Aarum munne adutha kayam,

Udalil yendral marunthu podhum,

Ullam pavam yenna cheyyum.

3.A small wound   but a great sorrow,

Before it gor cured , another wound,

If it ison body, medicine would be sufficient,

Poor mind , what can it do.

4,Iravum pagalum irandanaal ,

Inbam thunbam irandaanaal ,

Uravum pirivum irandaanaal,

Ullam ondru podhate,

4.If day and night are two,

If joy and sorrow are twi,

If relation and parting   are two,

One mind would not be sufficient.

5.Kangalin dandanai kakshi vazhi,

Kakshiyin dandanai kadhal vazhi,

Kadhalin dandanai kadavul vazhi,

Kadavulai dandikka yenna vazhi.

5.Punishment for the eye is  through what it sees,

Punishment  to what we see is throughlove,

Punishment o love   is through God,

What  is the way to punish god.
