1. Thannam thanimayile-udal,

Thalladum vayathinile-Ungal ,

Punnagayai parthu irundhaal

Inbam podatho yenthanukku.

1 When  we  are all alone,

In the age  when the body totters,

If I remain seeing your  smile ,

Is not the pleasure  sufficient  for me.

2.Manjalukku balam irunthaal ,

Yenthan mangalathil   arul irunthal,

Kunkumathil  gunam irunthal,

Ondrum   kurayaamal vaazha vaikkum,

2, If there is strength in the turmeric ,

If  there is grace  in my auspicious thread,

If there is quality in my kumkum,

These would make me live  without any wants.

3. Pathu murai  piranthalum –ungal,

Pakka thunai  naan varuven ,

Petha pillai maranthalum-naan,

Pillai  pol valarthiruppen.

3. Even if we are born again ten times,

I would come  as  your  near  by companion,

Even if the child that    we gave birth   forgets,

I would  have grown like your child.

4.Naan vanangum deivamellam-Ungal,

Nalla gunam ariyatho,

Kovilukku koduthathellam  -nanmai,

KOndu vara  maattatho.

4.Would not all the Gods that I salute,

Know the good nature  of yours,

Would not all that we gave   to the temple,

Able to bring   all that  is good.

5.Moochirukkum kalaam varai  -Ungal,

Mukam parthu naan iruppen ,

Kathru nindru pogum yendral ,

Ungal kaladiyil uyir koduppen.

5.As long as your breath is there  ,

I would  remain seeing  your face  ,

If the wind   is about to stop,

I would give my life at your feet.
