1.Atho andha paravai pola vaazha vendum,

Itho indha alaigal pola aada vendum

1. We should live  live    like   that bird ,

And we have to dance   like these  waves.

2. Ore vaanil , ore mannil ,

Ore geetham  urimai geetham paaduvom

2.In this  one sky  , in that  one earth  ,

WE have to sing the same song,

The song   of  of  our    rights .

3.Kathru nammai adimai yendru vilakkavillaye ,

Kadal neerum  adimayendru chuduvathillye,

Kalam nammai vittu vittunadappathillaye,

Kadhal pasam  , thaimai  nammai  marappathillaye

3.The wind does not set us apart  because we are slaves ,

And the water of the sea does  not burn us saying we are slaves ,

And the time does not leave  us and walk separately  ,

And love , affection and motherliness do not ever forget us.

4.Thondrum pothu  thayillamal thondra villaye  ,

Chollillamal mozhiyillamal   pesavillate  ,

Vaazhum podhu   pasiyillamal  vaazhavillaye,

Pogum pothu  veryu pathai pogavillaye

4.When we were born we did not appear   without the mother,

WE did not talk without    words and without languages,

And when we are living , we did not live without hunger,

And when we are departing , we do not take a  different path.

5,Kodi makkal chernthu  vaazha vendum  viduthalai,

Koyil pola nadu  kana vendum viduthalai,

Achamindri aadi pada  vendum viduthalai  ,

Adimai vaazhum  bhoomiyengum  vendum viduthalai  ,

2.Freedom is when crores of people  live together,

Freedom is for us to see  a  country without temple  ,

Freedom is when we can sing and play   without fear,

And freedom is required in all the earth  where slaves live.
