1. Idhaya veenai thoongum pothu pada mudiyuma?

Irandu kankal  irandu kakshi kana  mudiyuma?

1.When the lyre  of the mind is sleeping, can we sing?

Can two  different eyes see   two different    sights ?

2.Udhadu chirikkum neram ,Ullam chirikkumaa ,

Uruvam podum vesham  unmai aagumaa,

Vilakkai kudthil vaithal  , velicham  thondrumaa?

Veetu kuyilai   kootil vaithal  pattu paduma?

When the lips break in to a smile , does the mind also smile ,

Can the   made up form of the body , become the truth?

If the Koel of the home is kept in a cage   would it sing?

3.Manathai vaitha iraivan-  athil  Ninaivai vaithane   -antha  ,

Manitharkalai arinthu kollum   arivai  vaithane ,

Arivai   vaitha iraivan   meni azhagai vaithane  -antha,

Azhaku  kanda  manithan  pennai adimai chithane

4. The God who  placed the mind  also kept   thoughts in it  ,

And also kept the  knowledge    to know about those men,

That God   who kept the wisdom , also kept the beauty of the body,

And the man who saw the beauty , made the ladies   his slave .

4.Urugivitta mezhuginile   oli yethu  ,

Udainthu vita chilayinile   azhakethu,

Pazhuthu patta  koyilile  deivamethu  ,

Pani padarntha  padhayile  payanamethu

4.In the melted  , where is the light ,

In the broken statue   , where  is beauty  ,

In the  temple  that is destroyed , where is the God ,

And in the snow coated   path, where is the travel?
