1. Kanuvgale, Kanavugale,

Kaalamellam vaarero,

NInaivugale, ninaivugale,

Nindru poga maateero  ,

Nimmathiyai thaarero

1.oh dreams, oh dreams,

Would you not come for all the time .

Oh memories, Oh memories,

Would you   not get stopped,

Would you not give me peace.

2.Kavi yuraitha karpanai poal,

Kaipiditha poongodiyaal  ,

Poyyuraitha  kavithayai pol.

Pona kadhai  yenna cholven.

2.Like the imagination told by the poet,

The flower like lady who married me,

And like the poems that  told  lies,

What shall I  tell about the story  that has gone by.

3.Chilai vadikka kal eduthen ,

Chithuliyaal chethukki vaithen,

Chilai vadithu  mudiyum munne,

Thalai  vedithu  ponathamma.

3.I chose  a stone to make a statue,

I  sculpted using the small  chisel,

And before I could complete the chiseling,

My  head   broke  , oh lady

4,AAdiyile kathru adithal  ,

Ayiramai ilai udhirum,

Iyppasiyil mazhai pozhindhaal  ,

Athanayum thazhaithu varum,

Aval  aadi vara parthirundhen,

Aadi vanthu chernthathu amma ,

Iyppasikku kattu irundhen,

Yeppasiyum theeravillai

4.When wind blows in July-august,

 Thousands of leaves  would be shed,

If great rain is received in October-November,

Every thing would   grow luxuriously,

I was watching  her coming dancing,

The July –august came and went by,oh lady,

I was waiting for October-november,

None of my hunger was quenched.

5.Kayamondru nee koduthai  ,

Kayntha vadu neengavillai,

Kaintha vadu aarutharkko,

Kai thavazhum chei koduthai 

5.You gave me one wound,

The  dried scar never went out,

For the sake of curing of dried scars,

You gave me a little babe   which crawls.

6.Un kadhayai   naan ezhutha,

Uyirai vaithu kathirundhen ,

Yen kadhyai nee ezhuthi  ,

Edugalai  maraithu vittai.

6,For the sake of writing your stories,

I kept on waiting sticking to life  ,

You have written my story,

And have  hidden the pages.
