1. Marathyya  Maarathu,

Manamum gunamum maarathu  ,

THuraviyin vaazhvil thuyaram vanthalum,

Thooya thangam   theeyil venthalum.

1.It would not change , sir  would not chage  ,

The mind and character   would not change  ,

Even if  sorrow comes in the life of Sanyasi ,

And even if pure gold   burns  in fire.

2.Kattu puliyai  veetil  vachu  ,

Kariyum chorum   kalanthu vachalum,

Kurangu kayyil  malayai koduthu,

Gopurathin mel  nikka vechalum.

2.Even if we keep wild tiger at home,

And keep a mixture of meat and rice before it,

Even if we giva garland in hands of monkey,

And make   it stand  on the temple   tower.

3.Varavu  ariyaamal  chelavazhichalum   nilaikkathu,

Manasariyamal  kadalichalum balikkathu  ,

Kalam ariyaamal vidhai vidhaichalum   mulaikkathu  ,

Kathile   vilakkai yethi vachalum   yeriyathu  ,

Thittum  vayai   pooti vacvhalum  ,

THirudum   kayai katti  vachalum,

THedum  kathai  thirugi vachalum ,

AAdum  kankalai  adakki vachalum.

3.If we spend more than we earn , it would not last  ,

Loving some one without  understanding the mind    would not yield results,

If we sow seeds without knowing the season , it would not germinate,

If we light a lamp in strong wind  ,  it would not burn,

If we lock the mouth  that   abuses,

If we tie the hand that   steals  ,

If we pinch the   ear that     searches  ,

If we   control the eyes   that dance.
